Meagan Walker, Harleton Elementary Principal

A woman with auburn hair smiles at the camera.

Mrs. Meagan Walker is the proud principal of our elementary and intermediate schools! She graduated from Jefferson Christian Academy in 2005. After high school, she followed her dream of becoming a teacher by earning her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M Texarkana in Science and Interdisciplinary Studies and later earning her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Mrs. Walker has been in education for 15 years! She started out teaching 2nd grade right here at HES, then spent several years teaching Pre-K and Head Start. She loved helping little learners discover new things! After being a teacher, she became an assistant principal for two years. This year, she’s very excited to start her 2nd year as our campus principal!

Mrs. Walker has such a sweet family. She and her husband James have been married for 12 years. They have a daughter, Remington, who is in 6th grade here at HJH! At home, Mrs. Walker enjoys reading, taking walks with her dogs, and going to concerts and baseball games with her family.. especially when the Texas Rangers are playing!

What inspired her to get into education? She said “During college, I had the opportunity to work as a teacher’s aide at the private school I attended as a child. I spent much of my time supporting small groups of students who were struggling academically, and I found so much joy in helping them overcome those challenges. Watching students grasp a concept they once found difficult was incredibly rewarding. I’ve always loved building meaningful relationships with students and helping them gain the confidence to reach their full potential.”

She says “What I appreciate most about my job is the incredible team I work with every day. The teachers and staff supoort one another, lifting each other up and working together toward a common goal. Every day, I see our staff pouring into our students with dedication and heart, and I’m grateful to be part of that mission.”

Now, as our principal, she gets to help all our students do their best! She’s proud to work with such a kind, hardworking team of teachers and staff.. and she’s even prouder to be part of your school journey!

Attendance is Important!

Every school day is a big deal! At Harleton Elementary, being at school all day helps students learn new things, grow their brains, and have fun with friends. When students miss school, they miss out on important stuff. That’s why we work with families to help everyone come to school every day. Coming to school helps build a bright and exciting future!
